i won't forget to put roses on your grave

Happy Father's Day, everybody!

BONUS RECIPE:

Red Curry Lamb Burgers

1 lb ground lamb (or beef)
1/2 cup plain, fat-free yogurt
2 t crushed/cracked rosemary
1 T red curry powder (alternately: 1.5 t cumin, 1 t coriander, 1 t cayenne)
Pinch of salt and pepper
Goat cheese

Take everything but the goat cheese and mix. Fashion into patties, about a fourth of the mix per patty. Grill or pan-cook over medium heat until done. Place onto bun, and sprinkle goat cheese over the top.

(Even with beef, this will probably be the best burger you have ever eaten. Just don't eat 3/4 lb of it, you'll feel sick)

As seen on FamilyFun Magazine

Pumpkin Biscuits

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp. packed light brown sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into thin slices (or a vegan substitute)
1 15-oz. can unsweetened solid-packed pumpkin

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet or line it with a piece of parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, stir the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and spices. (You may need to crumble in the brown sugar with your fingers.) With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture looks like cornmeal. Stir in the pumpkin, and mix until a soft dough forms.

3. On a well-floured surface, with well-floured hands, pat out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Using a floured, sharp knife, cut out 2-inch-square biscuits. Place them on the cookie sheet, and put it on the middle rack of your oven. Bake the biscuits for 15 to 20 minutes (because they're already brown, you may need to break one open to see if they're done). Serve hot or at room temperature. Makes 16 to 18 biscuits.

dig on this, good people

Credit where credit is due: My roommate Karl (hi Karl!) turned me onto this blog. If you ever wanted page after page of deep cut soul/funk/60's garage punk/whatever (mp3s too!), check their shit out. Recommended:

Witch - Motherless Child: Zambia's answer to the Stones. RIYL T Rex, Hunky Dory-era Bowie, Deep Purple
Lee Moses - Bad Girl: sloppy rhythm section, in-the-red vocals, out-of-tune horns, but it fucking RIPS. RIYL Otis Redding, Arthur Conley, Wilson Pickett
Bubble Puppy - Hot Smoke and Sassafrass: Extremely acid-fried Texas garage punk, RIYL Roky Erickson, The Zombies, scuzzy/psych Byrds songs

Mix of my favorites to be uploaded shortly.

Lastly, a picture of Damo Suzuki, making you an offer you can't refuse:

Os Mutantes!

Photobucket

By far one of the greatest Brazilian psychedelic rock bands of their time.

This self titled album is mostly Beatles-influenced, but once I get my hands on the album "Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol" you'll see how groovy things can get.

excuse me, sir or madam

or whatever the hell Gonzo is. The real lesson here is, Peter Sellers is a genius.

A Gift From Euphoria

Taking this shit from Wikipedia: The band EUPHORIA was short-lived (1968 to 1969), consisting of 4 members, Roger Penney and Wendy Penney, Tom Pacheco, and Sharon Alexander.
Roger and Wendy were a folk duo performing in Greenwich Village, using the names Roger Becket and Wendy Becket.
EUPHORIA is generally regarded as a Sunshine pop group.

Seriously, guys, this album is fucking incredible. It's like psychedelic, mindfuck, rock n rolllll, bluegrass, pop, fuckin tight ass shit, guys. Wasssssap, dudes?! It's fuckin bitchin. The track Did You Get The Letter is a trip itself. And Sunshine Woman is certainly among my favorite, with the that sweet ass guitar riff, like dayum.

This is the kinda album ta give yer friends and yer mom and yer dog might even want a copy!
